While most people get stress headaches only once in a while, some people suffer from them quite a lot. Headaches are day spoilers and make it really hard to concentrate on the things that you need to get done. There are a lot of treatments that you can choose for stress headaches but if you suffer from them a lot, you need to talk to a doctor. For the most part, though, changing a few things in your daily life and using a home treatment is enough to get rid of tension headaches.
Tension headaches can be brought on by eye strain which is a common problem due to people spending most of their days staring at computer screens. When you add watching movies, and staring at the screen of your smart phone to this mix, you will be straining your eyes more than you think you are. It's true that you can't just quit your job but if that is the primary source of your eyestrain, you might still be able to prevent your headaches. Take a few seconds, for example, to look away from your screen. This helps you prevent yourself from spending long interrupted blocks of time just staring at the screen. A protective shield that reduces glare and (sometimes) radiation is another solution to help protect yourself.
Acupuncture and other forms of healing that make use of pressure points can be a fantastic way to clear up chronic headaches. If you have access to a reliable acupuncture practitioner in your local area, you might want to talk to that person because acupuncture is great for reducing your stress and curing your headaches. You might need to have more than one session. An even better (and more affordable) approach is to learn about the pressure points in your hands and feet. Reflexology is just one system that teaches this and there is a lot of information about it available online. Another technique that is also useful is the Emotional Freedom Technique (or EFT) which has you tap on a variety of places on your body and it can be good for relaxing and alleviating your stress headaches.
If you wear things around or on your head might be adding to your headaches. A headband is obvious as a culprit but even things like sunglasses, headphones, hats and helmets can cause unneeded tension in those areas. Some people get what are called external compression headaches which are headaches caused by pressure around the head. Something might not feel uncomfortable when you put it on but it can still constrict the blood flow when you let it stay on for a long time.
So if you always have a hat or other item on your head, you might want to try taking a break from it.
There are a lot of different ways to deal with your stress headaches. You might be tempted to use an "instant cure" like a pain reliever or cold caffeinated beverage when you've got a bad headache but you really need to make sure you find the cause of your problem if you want to properly manage it. You don't have to live with stress headaches, they are usually a message from your body that you need to lower your stress in your daily life.
